How to cancel ChatGPT Plus

Plus is a button. Team, Pro, and the API are different bills.

The trap

ChatGPT Plus cancels in the OpenAI account: Settings → Subscription. If you started on iOS, Apple may be the biller and openai.com cannot kill it. Team and ChatGPT Pro are separate SKUs. The API (platform.openai.com) is prepaid usage, not Plus — cancelling Plus does not zero API keys, and closing the API does not cancel Plus. A workspace owner can keep billing a seat after you leave the chat.

What fails

• Deleting the ChatGPT app.
• Cancelling Plus and assuming the API key died.
• Leaving a Team workspace that still has your seat.
• Asking OpenAI to refund an Apple charge, or the reverse.
• A “pause” that is just turning off renewal after this month — confirm the date.
